Ebb and Flow

Slow Flow: 30 mins

Teacher: Marina Harding

Level: 1+

Class Type: Total Body

Description: Ebb and Flow is defined as a recurrent or rhythmical pattern of coming and going or decline and regrowth. Throughout this class, we will discover the balance and counterbalance of each pose. We work our body one way, the ebb, and follow through the the opposite movement--the flow. In life, nothing is constant except change. The same holds true in this practice. We will continue to develop trust in ourselves as we find a grounded state to accept the ebb and flow of life. If there were no change or decline from day to day, there would be no appreciation, gratitude, or lessons learned for growth. Together we discover our strength and energy, as we ebb and flow like rivers.

Always remember to listen to your body and do what you can handle! Every body and every day is different and THAT IS OKAY!

Thank you so much for practicing with me and AY!

-Marina

Obliques on Fire

Clay Merritt, Co-Founder of Strength Through Flexibility, guides you through a smoker of a core workout in this month's collaboration.

About the Class: In this class we learn to activate muscle chains to fire up our obliques. By creating solid foundations and leveraging various body and joint positions, we can activate the proper muscle chains to trigger the internal and external obliques. Additionally, contracting the entire muscle chain allows the synergists muscles to experience the workload and encourages growth. Learning to control these activation not only helps build a stronger core, but allows us to move arms and legs in a more balanced manner.

Who is STF: Strength Through Flexibility is a Veteran-Owned Business founded by Clay Merritt and Jessica Lemons, who are passionate about guiding others on their fitness journey.

"In our personal lives, we know the struggles and failures with finding balance between daily responsibilities and dedicating time to maintain a healthy active lifestyle. We also know that finding the perfect fitness program is impossible. After years of teaching professionally in various yoga studios, fitness facilities, and providing specialty workshops, we realized a component of fitness was missing – true functional strength and real flexibility for optimal performance."

Tranquility Flow

This 45 minute flow, taught by Marina Harding, is an all-levels yoga class focused on the neck, shoulders, back, hips, and hamstrings.

"Tranquility is a state of being calm. With this flow, we will create it.

Slow down with Marina and American Yogi in this 45 minute flow nurturing the body of all of its chaos. If this flow is too long, I have broken it into segments ending with Child’s Pose, so feel free to stop whenever and resume whenever.

Always remember to listen to your body and do what you can handle! Every body and every day is different and THAT IS OKAY!"

Mindset Flow

"This flow focuses on mindset. I will guide you to discover and rediscover your strength. Starting with standing mountain pose (tadasana), together we will find our breath, focusing on each inhale exhale to bring us into the present moment. Throughout our thirty minute practice, we will unlock certain mind blocks and work hard to channel your energy into edge--then counterbalance that energy with recovery. The mind is a powerful tool--don't let it control you. Keep practicing. Persistence leads to results. As a note, always remember to listen to your body and do only what you can handle. Each body is different and each day might feel different as well--which is perfectly normal, and perfectly alright."

Quick Flow

Our first basic flow in the series. Get on the mat and see what yoga is all about.

Meet Marina:

I began my yoga teaching journey in 2015. At the time, I was in the Nursing Degree Program down in Fayetteville, NC. I like to think that yoga was my saving grace. While in nursing school, I became sick. I knew that if I didn’t take a break from school, I would end up as a patient in the hospital, not a nurse. Long story short, being a yoga teacher became my passion. I began my 8 month yoga teacher training journey at the Hayat Yoga Shala with Yoga Garden of Apex, NC and recognized by Yoga Alliance with my 200 hour certification. I also received a certificate as a Yoga Warriors Teacher, teaching yoga to those who suffer from PTSD and TBI. From here on out, I realized that I could not force myself into a pathway of life that wasn’t meant for me. I realized that all the years I spent studying science and medicine paid off in a different way. For that, I am grateful. Now, I am sharing my passion with you. Om Shanti, Marina
